Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua Set to Move From US to UK Stadium

The long-awaited heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could be heading back to the United Kingdom, with the fight now strongly expected to take place at a UK stadium rather than Madison Square Garden in New York.

According to the latest reports, Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, has emerged as the leading venue for the all-British blockbuster. The development would represent a major change from the recent push to stage the fight in the United States.

The venue dispute has been one of the biggest obstacles surrounding Fury and Joshua’s planned meeting. While New York had emerged as a preferred option, Joshua’s side has remained committed to the fight being staged in the UK under the terms of the original agreement.

Talks had previously reopened over a potential Wembley Stadium staging after Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn pushed strongly for the contest to remain in Britain. However, the latest developments suggest Cardiff could now provide a compromise.

Principality Stadium would offer a major stadium setting while also providing a retractable roof, an important factor for a major heavyweight event later in the year.

For British boxing fans, the move would be significant. Fury and Joshua are two of the biggest names produced by British heavyweight boxing in the modern era, and their meeting has been anticipated for years.

Both fighters are former heavyweight world champions, and the bout represents the culmination of a rivalry that has repeatedly come close to happening without ever reaching the ring.

The fight has also faced several complications surrounding its location, commercial arrangements and broadcast considerations. The proposed move to New York created particular tension because Joshua’s team had maintained that the agreement was for a UK event.

Fury, meanwhile, has made it clear that he wants the fight to happen and has publicly criticized the delays surrounding the negotiations.

With Principality Stadium now reportedly emerging as the likely destination, attention will turn to whether the remaining details can be finalized and formally announced.

A Cardiff staging would also give the fight a different atmosphere from Wembley. Joshua has previously fought at Principality Stadium, while the venue has a strong history of hosting major boxing events.

The location therefore provides a realistic UK alternative while potentially helping organizers overcome some of the logistical problems that complicated a Wembley staging.

For Fury and Joshua, however, the venue will ultimately be secondary to what happens inside the ring. Both men have already established themselves among the leading British heavyweights of their generation, and the winner would add another major chapter to his career.

The latest development does not remove every question surrounding the event, but it does represent an important step toward keeping one of boxing’s biggest heavyweight attractions on British soil.

After years of waiting and weeks of uncertainty over where the fight would happen, the focus is now on completing the final arrangements and getting Fury and Joshua officially into the ring.

If the reported Cardiff move is finalized, the long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown could finally have a home in the UK.
