Jaron “Boots” Ennis has responded emphatically to Terence Crawford after the former undisputed champion publicly asked whether Ennis would fight him if he decided to come out of retirement.
Crawford put the question directly to Ennis, asking: “Would you fight me next if I come outta retirement?”
Ennis’ response left little room for interpretation.
“1000%!” Boots replied.
The brief exchange has immediately raised the possibility of a highly anticipated matchup between two of the most accomplished names in the welterweight era.
Crawford, known as “Bud,” has established himself as one of boxing’s elite fighters, while Ennis has built his reputation as one of the division’s leading young talents. Crawford’s suggestion of returning to the ring specifically for a fight with Ennis adds another layer of intrigue to their already significant boxing profiles.
Importantly, however, the exchange does not confirm that a fight has been negotiated or scheduled. Crawford only asked Ennis whether he would accept the challenge if he came out of retirement, and Ennis answered in the affirmative.
That distinction matters. At this stage, the public interaction represents interest from both fighters rather than an official fight announcement.
For Ennis, the response demonstrates that he is willing to entertain the opportunity if Crawford does decide to return. His “1000%!” answer was direct and leaves no uncertainty about his willingness to share the ring with the former champion.
For Crawford, the question itself puts the spotlight back on his future. If he does seriously consider a return, Ennis has now publicly indicated that he would be prepared to take the fight.

The potential matchup would also carry significant competitive interest because of the experience Crawford brings against Ennis’ status as one of the prominent fighters of the newer generation. A meeting between the two would naturally attract considerable attention from boxing fans, particularly given that the possibility has now been raised publicly by Crawford himself.
Still, there are plenty of unanswered questions before the fight could become reality. Crawford would first have to make an official decision regarding his retirement, while the two sides would then need to agree on the terms of any potential bout.
For now, though, the message from Ennis is clear: if Crawford comes back and wants the fight, Boots says he is ready.
Whether Crawford follows his challenge with an actual return remains to be seen, but Ennis has already provided the answer he was looking for. The next move belongs to Bud.
